Worse than the total agony of being in love?

No. There is not much to top it.

I have so much work to do.

Sickies.

Guys, I should be a doctor. I was right about everything. I have a 102 fever and strep throat. Am I good or what?

Last night was a bad night.
More on that at a later time.

And now I am going to go either sleep or puke.
Perhaps both. I didn't know strep was supposed to make your whole self sick.

[Note: the people next door to me are playing ridiculously loud gangster rap music and it needs to stop right now. Right now. Stop. Pleeeasse.]

Mainstream dork.

I know American Idol is over (and YAY Taylor won!) but I was just reliving the hotness that is Ace Young singing "Father Figure". I don't care how much of a loser it makes me, when the man sings "warm and naked" I die inside JUST A LITTLE.

guh.
smolder inmypants.

He can be my daddy any day.

Ahem...

Anyway. I've lost five pounds in the last week, but I ate so much tonight that I probably gained it all back in one fell swoop. You know what's gross? Stretch marks. I woke up one morning and they were running across my stomach. It makes me sick. I will do anything to get rid of them because I think they are the most disgusting things ever.

This has been a random creaming the jeans + tmi to the extreme post.

Please check it out and tell me what you guys think!

I am liking the way the background turned out, even though it isn't the picture I wanted to use.

A very happy 42nd birthday to the man who is quite possibly [i.e most definitely] the sexiest person ever to have graced this planet, Mr. Johnny Depp [who would have guessed?].

Sweet merciful mother he's pretty.
I'm gonna make a Depp layout methinks...

I've created a public journal to post lyrics, pictures, art, writing, songs and stuff like that in. Add if you so desire. I won't announce posts there in this journal, but I needed a place to express myself. And not take up the friend's pages of people who don't care.

Add [info]findthetime.

I'm so cool. I have three journals.
Four if you count the old one.

Oh that is bad.

So everybody knows about the Terri Schiavo case, and everybody is probably sick of hearing about it. I will say I haven't really been following it closely, but I've heard enough to keep up with what is going one.

Her parents want her alive, her husband wants to let her go. Yes, she is severely brain damaged, but her parents are willing to care for her. But what is really upsetting me right now is the removal of her feeding tube. They are starving this woman to death. Is that right and just and fair to do to any human being, brain damaged or not? She can still feel, she is still responding, she is still a LIVING being with a soul, and they are let her die slowly and painfully by starving. They arrested a 10 year old boy and 13 year old twins for trying to bring this woman water.

Doctors have said she would probably die within a week or two of the feeding tube being removed, which was done March 18 after a judge sided with her husband's argument that she would not want to be kept alive artificially. Dehydration has taken its toll on the 41-year-old woman, producing flaky skin, dry tongue and lips, and sunken eyes, according to attorneys and friends of the Schindlers.

Who are we to say who lives and who dies?

Something is very wrong here.

The cost of war.

The United States has spent over $147 billion on the war in Iraq.

With that money we could have instead:

1. Paid for 19,576,913 children to attend a year of Head Start
2. Insured 88,506,484 children for one year.
3. Hired 2,561,494 additional public school teachers for one year.
4. Provided 7,165,308 students four-year scholarships at public universities
5. Built 1,330,854 additional housing units for the homeless.
6. Fully funded the global anti-hunger efforts for 6 years.
7. Fully funded the World Wide AIDS program for 14 years.
8. Ensured that every child in the world was given basic immunizations for 49 years.

Take your pick. The numbers are staggering, and the cost grows each second. For more information, visit www.costofwar.com

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, signifies in the final sense a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed."

Liberal or Conservative? )

So I'm a liberal. [shocker!]
Right on.

Anyway, today was so incredibly boring and I am so incredibly tired that I cannot think of anything much to post about.

I have to go on a "senior retreat" this Thursday. This basically entails us schleping to a convent for the day and "reflecting, meditating and praying" about what is going on in our lives and "asking for spiritual guidance" so we can get through this year with no trouble.

Just. Kill me now.

I am not your seniorita
I don't aim so high.

I fucking love this song.

This journal is FRIENDS ONLY, because I am special like that.

It isn't that I write anything infinitely interesting or mindblowingly personal. It's just a little security feature for my own piece of mind.

So, if you are interested in being let in to follow my oh so interesting life, drop me a comment.

There are a few public entries previous to this post. Either I accidentally didn't filter them or they were trivial enough not to filter.

Enjoy!

If you ever have a friend on your friends list threaten suicide or leave a suicide not in their LJ (public or friends only) contact the Livejournal Abuse Team immediately.

The Abuse Team does have more info on each LJer than most of us may have and can contact the users local police department and get them help a lot sooner than an LJ friend could if no one knows his real name or address... Abuse team handles these situations frequently.

[info]jpallan, a member of the LJ abuse team says: file a request with the LiveJournal Abuse Team with *all* IRL contact info you have. Sometimes people forget to do that, and in suicide requests, seconds count. A suicide request is usually noticed within 5 minutes of being entered into the abuse requests. At which point, generally at least 5 abuse team members start investigating that and only that. People are called on cell phones to be asked to get to a computer if possible, people are woken up out of a dead sleep, etc.

We work our asses off investigating the case, and as soon as we have a full name, address, etc., the manager of the abuse team ([info]rahaeli) or one of us (I've personally called twice) calls the police in the area to give them as many details as possible -- method planning on being used if known [in case the situation gets violent], whether they're with parents or roommates or their own children, any other relevant stuff we may dig up -- and the cops then send out a car to the site.

Often, due to confidentiality laws and stuff, or just simple busyness, we never hear anything back. We all hold our breath and watch to see if their journal is updated again. Sometimes, we're reassured -- sometimes, we wonder forever.

And generally, across the Internet, if you get a suicide request, it goes to the abuse department, simply because we do so much investigating that we are the most likely to be able to connect words on a screen with a real-life identity.

Yes, harassment complaints may wait a looong while before getting addressed, but we recognize the emergency that suicide requests are.
-[info]jpallan, quote from here

Unfortunately, it's not uncommon that people leave suicide notes in their LJ, but very few LJers know to contact the Abuse team in the event that someone on their friends list leaves a suicide note... can you each take a minute today to post this info in your own LJ to spread the word throughout LJ as for how to handle this type of situation. like jessical said, "seconds count" and contacting LJ abuse for a friend is what may may save the life of someone on YOUR friends list.

thanks, [info]cleanbc (who first saw it here).
Sorry for anyone who sees this more than once, but as [info]being_homeless says, "it could be the info that saves someone's life."
